The
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Rated PG-13
The Lord of
the Rings: The Two Towers is an epic adventure of good against evil in a
time of uncertainty in the land of Middle-earth. Part Two begins in the
hills of Emyn Muil, where lost Frodo (Elijah Wood- The Faculty) and Sam
(Sean Astin- The Goonies) who are Hobbits, discover they are being
followed by the mysterious Gollum (Andy Serkis). An unstable creature who
has himself been corrupted by the Ring, Gollum promises to guide the
Hobbits to the Black Gates of Mordor if they will release him. Sam does
not trust their new companion, but Frodo takes pity on Gollum, who like
himself was once a Ringbearer.
Across Middle-earth, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen- A Perfect
Murder), the Elf archer Legolas and Gimli the Dwarf encounter the besieged
Rohan kingdom, whose once great King Theoden has fallen under Saruman’s
deadly spell. Eowyn, the niece to the King, recognizes a leader in the
Human warrior Aragorn. And though he finds himself drawn to her, Aragorn
is constantly reminded of his enduring love for the Elf Arwen (Liv Tyler-
Armageddon) and the pact they made together.
The Fellowship will face unimaginable armies and deception
while also witnessing ancient wonders and the untapped strength of their
people. Together they must stand against the powerful forces spreading
from the Two Towers – Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupted
wizard Saruman has bred a lethal army 10,000 strong; and Sauron’s fortress
at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor.
This is going to be one of the greatest trilogy made. The
second part was lead directly from the first part. The climactic events
makes this a great fantasy film. Each part leaves you wanting more and
finding out what happens to The Ring..

Rated PG-13
Leonardo DiCaprio tells the true story of Frank Abagnale (DiCarprio-
Titanic & The Beach), the youngest man ever placed on the FBI's Most
Wanted List. Frank becomes a successful con artist of forging paychecks.
Christopher Walken (The Affair Of The Necklace & The Country Bears) plays
Frank William Abagnale, DiCaprio’s father. Martin Sheen (No Code of
Conduct & The American President) also stars in this film as DiCaprio’s
fiance’s father.
Along the way Frank impersonates an airline pilot, an
FBI agent, a doctor, a lawyer, and a sociology professor. Tom Hanks
(Castaway & Forest Gump) plays the FBI agent, Carl Handready, in hot
pursuit of Frank. Frank, who leads the agent along an international trail
of scams and escapes, including 26 countries and all 50 United States.
Frank’s amazing five-year fraud spree in the 1960s, had
made him $4 million. He spent 4 years in prison, and then the rest of his
sentence as an employee of the FBI’S checking fraud department. Still
today, he is active in the stop against forging checks.
This is a great tale about a kid from a normal suburban
background who pulled off one of the greatest fraud sprees in history. You
will be surprised of Steven Spielberg’s lighter film. This is definitely
one you must see!

Just Married
Rated PG-13
Ashton Kutcher (Dude Where’s My Car & That 70’s Show) and Brittany
Murphy (Girl Interrupted & 8 Mile) star as the young newlywed couple in
this feature. Tom Leezek (Kutcher) is a midnight part-time local traffic
announcer, hoping to become the sports forecaster. Sarah McNerney
(Murphy) plays the free-spirited, wealthy girl whom Tom falls in love
with. They did everything spontaneously and always had a great time
until they got MARRIED!
The happy couple sets off with the highest of hopes and ideals
about love and marriage on their wedding day, but soon that all changes.
Their beautiful and adventure filled honeymoon throughout Europe turned
into a gigantic disaster. With old boyfriends appearing, cute European
girls, tragedy’s and comedy make this a hysterical fresh movie. This
will keep you laughing at the young couple and their misfortunes and
mishaps.
I thought this movie was not underrated. It does involve adult
material and language for a mature audience. The humor is exaggerated
and not worth going to the theater to see. This is definitely one for a
snow day.
 Maid In Manhattan
Rated PG-13
This is another fairy tale story that ends with a happy ending. Marisa
Ventura (Jennifer Lopez- The Cell & The Wedding Planner) is a maid in an
elegant hotel that works hard for her paycheck. It is all worth it for
her son, Ty (Tyler Posey), who is a bright young man. Ty’s father is
never around, so Marisa and her son spend a lot of time together.
One day while cleaning a bathroom, she connects eyes
with a politician, who has been getting a lot of publicity. It wasn’t
until her best-friend makes her try on a $5,000 outfit that she meets
Chris Marshall, Assemblyman of New York (Ralph Fiennes - The Avengers &
Prince of Egypt). Ty knows his mom deserves someone great and wants them
to be together. Marisa has to hide and sneak around the hotel, to avoid
Chris finding out her real identity and not just a guest at the hotel.
Marisa knows that she is risking her chance to move up into management,
if she continues seeing him, so she ends it. It was a little too late,
with a few too many people knowing about her secret. Problems arise,
people get fired, people quit, and Marisa doesn’t get her dream guy.
Ty, the bright child he is, finds out that Chris will
be speaking at Marisa’s new hotel. He is determined to go to the
conference and make Chris want his mom. There was no question about it,
that Chris and Marisa would end up together, happily. Marisa gets the
guy, her son, her dream job and the satisfaction that she proved her
mother wrong. Chris is elected the next generation Senator in New York
and starts to clean the streets of New York, which Marisa grew up on.
All and all, this was a cute flick. It portrayed Lopez
as a true maid in Manhattan, with the natural look. Fiennes played “the
knight in shining armor” that rescues Lopez and Posey, with his love for
them both. This movie is one that you feel like you know what will
happen next, but you still watch it wondering what will happen next. |
